Digital Unit Plan Site: Adding Assessments and an Assessment Plan Timeline & Summary

In this part of your digital unit plan development, you will create an entry-level assessment, investigate digital quizzes andsurveys, and create an assessment plan timeline and summary. THis will be a first draft; you will cycle back to this timeline and make revisions once you have completed the digital unit plan. These acivities are outlined in Intel Essentials Module 2, Activities 3 and 4.

See Assessment Plans for examples of assessment timelines & summaries. If you open a plan, you will also be able to click on specific examples of assessments. You can then save the assessment in a Word document and revise for your use.

  1. Create an Entry-Level Assessment for your Unit.
    • This assessment should tap into prior knowledge and orient students to the new content of your unit. You could use a PowerPoint set of questions, a simple survey, KWL or T-Chart, Brainstorming activity, or Think-Pair-Share.
    • You can create your entry-level assessment in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint document and attach to your Assessment Page, or you can create the assessment within your site, or you could create it in Google Docs and Forms.
  2. Investigate Progress-Monitoring Assessment tools such as Quizzes/Surveys/Puzzles.
  3. Create an Assessment Plan (Timeline and Summary) for your Unit.
    • The assessment plan, timeline and summary, is discussed in detail on the Intel Essentials CD. Be sure to complete Module 2 before you complete the Assessment Plan.
    • You might want to draft these items in your Unit Plan Template Word document.
    • Your timeline will not be complete at this time, because you don't have all your lessons created. However, you should be able to propose some ideas. At a bare minimum, your timeline will look something like theAssessment Timeline (in table format) in the Understanding the Scientific Method Unit. (Please note: This is only an example of the timeline and DOES NOT include a summary!)
    • You may organize your Assessment page in a useful manner - and provide your assessment timeline in a table, list (like the one below), or diagram. Don't forget to include your Assessment Summary. Attach or link your assessments.
    • You will need to add any further assessments you plan or create later in your unit plan development.
